| Built in 1897, the Standpipe was constructed on the highest point in Bangor. It was designed for firefighting and as the reserve water supply for the city. The 100-step winding staricase leads to the 12-foot wide promenade deck, which overlooks a magnificent view of the city and surrounding area. The Standpipe is only open four times a year for viewing. |
