Great tip to attract and retain talent (from our HR Conference)
If you attended our Early Bird Breakfast this week, you had the pleasure of listening to David Pease, Director of Human Resources for Bangor Savings Bank discuss ways to attract and retain employees. He talked a lot about “engagement” as the key to making employees feeling valued and appreciated.
He mentioned something that I really liked called “MAGNET” to describe what employees are seeking from their work.
M – Meaningful and challenging work
A – Appreciation and advancement
G – Goal alignment and achievement
N – Need to be involved in decision making
E – Equitable total compensation
T – Team connectivity and success
Here is David’s presentation: 2017 Bangor Chamber Presentation- Ver 2.0
David kicked off our second annual HR Conference and what a great day it was! Our speakers covered topics from legal considerations, to interviewing techniques, culture, conflict and much more! Attendees came from near and far, representing a wide spectrum of types and sizes of businesses and organizations and left with new tools to better manage their human resource needs. The feed back we have received so far, reinforces our commitment to continue to put on this conference to provide businesses in our region and beyond the HR tools they need to retain and attract employees.
We did receive one complaint from an attendee that the conference wrapped up too soon! That individual wanted more (that is a good thing).
Thanks to everyone who presented, who attended, to Chamber staff for organizing and to our sponsors for supporting: Predictive Success, Bangor Area Staffing Solutions, Waterfront Concerts and our Early Bird Breakfast sponsor, Eaton Peabody. Also, thanks to Eastern Maine Development Corporation for partnering with us to bring you this event!
We have posted a survey for attendees for your feedback and the presentations from our presenters here.
It was a great day! We hope to see you at our 2018 HR Conference!
