Health Equity Alliance Sponsors Gubernatorial Candidate Forum
Bangor – With elections are right around the corner, Health Equity Alliance (HEAL) is offering an opportunity for the public to get to know the candidates better. On Friday, March 16 at 5:00 pm at the Downeast School in Bangor, HEAL is sponsoring a Gubernatorial Candidate Forum.
Discussion will center on the opioid epidemic and drug policy. Radio Personality and Morning Talk Host Don Cookson from WZON The Pulse 620, will be moderating the event. American Sign Language interpretation services will be available.
As of press time, the following candidates have confirmed their attendance at the event: Adam Cote, Mark Dion, Mark Eves, Terry Hayes, Janet Mills, Diane Russell, and Betsy Sweet.
HEAL provides free HIV and Hepatitis C testing, community outreach and education, sexual health services, HIV case management, a syringe exchange program, and an emergency food pantry. HEAL envisions a world in which all people are valued and celebrated, and health disparities such as HIV, Hepatitis C and AIDS-related deaths are nonexistent. By facilitating collaboration, education, advocacy and action, HEAL empowers those communities most affected by HIV to improve their health and well-being and affect social and cultural change.
