We Want YOU… to volunteer!

As a member of the Bangor Region Chamber, you should consider taking advantage of the many ways to volunteer for the chamber and our programs.  Volunteering will provide you with opportunities to meet other chamber members, to apply your skills or learn new ones, to learn more about issues that are of interest to you and and to have fun!   Volunteers are critical to the success of your chamber.  We need you!

That said, we recognize that you are busy and finding the time to volunteer can be a challenge.  So, we do our best to create lots of opportunities that can work with your already over scheduled life!

Consider these opportunities…

Are you interested in helping out with events?

We don’t have a standing “events” committee, but rather “ad hoc” committees for specific events.  Whether it be our annual golf tournament, our annual dinner, biz expo or more… we always need volunteers to assist with planning, set- up, registration and whatever it takes for a successful event!   Just let us know you would like to help and we will be sure to reach out to you when the need arises.

Are you interested in helping with member outreach?

Consider joining our “Membership Committee”.  This group works closely with our Director of Membership to look at ways to improve the “member” experience and to attract new and retain current members.   This committee also volunteers to help at member events.   The Membership Committee  meets the second Wednesday of the month at noon.

Are you interested in what’s happening in our region?

Biz Action is a committee that meets to discuss opportunities in our region and how the chamber can support those opportunities.  Topics have included, the waterfront, expanding the food hub, innovation/entrepreneurship and more!  This committee meets the second Thursday of the month from 7:45 – 9:00 am.

Are you interested what is happening in Augusta that impacts our region?

Advocacy is an important part of the work of your chamber.  We consider carefully issues that impact our region and consider what, if any position/recommendation to make.   We also work to provide opportunities for our members to be better informed, to participate in the process and engage with leadership at the local, state and national level.  If this sounds like something you would like to participate in, check out our Governmental Affairs Committee.   They meet the first Monday of the month from 12:00 – 1:00 pm.

Are you interested in helping out with our programs?

Fusion, Bangor Region Leadership Institute (BRLI), and building Bridges are always looking for volunteers!

If any of this sounds interesting to you, please reach out to myself or anyone at the Chamber for more information and to confirm the date for the next meeting, as they may change.   We NEED you and we look forward to your input, participation and furthering your relationship with your chamber!
